Inter v Napoli
Premier Sports, 8.45pm Tuesday
Juventus secured their ninth consecutive Serie A title with victory over Sampdoria on Sunday, but the scrap for second place is still in the balance with Inter in pole position to chase them home.
Inter have a one-point lead over on Atalanta and Lazio with two games to go and can strengthen their grip on second spot with victory over Napoli.
With a trip to Atalanta awaiting Inter on the final day of the campaign, Antonio Conte’s men can’t afford to drop points in this game and at a shade of odds-against they are worth backing to deliver the goods.
Inter were knocked out in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia by Napoli last month, but the second leg was played four months after the first one and they were the better side over the course of the tie.
Inter trailed Napoli 1-0 on aggregate going into the delayed rematch in Naples but they couldn’t make the most of their dominance, drawing 1-1 despite enjoying 68 per cent possession and winning the shots-on-target battle 9-2.
Judged on how that recent meeting panned out, Conte’s side may fancy their chances of exacting their revenge and they should be full of confidence after Saturday’s 3-0 win at Genoa took their unbeaten sequence to six.
With Alexis Sanchez and Christian Eriksen starting to find form and Romelu Lukaku and the impressive Lautaro Martinez spearheading their attack, Inter should have the talent to account for a Napoli side who have failed to win on their last two away trips to Bologna and Parma.
Key stat
Napoli have won just one of their last four away games, conceding six goals in the process.
Parma v Atalanta
Premier Sports, 6.30pm Tuesday
Atalanta have been held to draws in their last three Serie A away assignments but they can stop the rot and keep up their pursuit of second with a high-scoring victory at Parma.
Atalanta looked the chief dangers to Juventus in the title race when they rattled in a ninth straight league success at home to Sampdoria earlier this month. However, dropped points at Juve, Verona and Milan mean they still have work to do.
A home showdown with Inter on the final day makes things interesting but first they must account for a Parma side who are in touching distance of a top-half finish after consecutive wins against Napoli and Brescia.
Parma required two penalties to get the better of Napoli 2-1, having lost the shot count 12-7, and giving up that number of chances to this explosive Atalanta side would not be wise.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s visitors have scored 96 goals in 36 league games this season - 19 more than any other side in Italy's top tier - and they have put seven past their opposition on three occasions.
With Josip Ilicic, Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata getting excellent service from assist king Alejandro Gomez, Atalanta have to be feared by anyone and they should be able to punish Parma.
However, for all their attacking talent, the visitors are vulnerable defensively, keeping just one clean sheet in their last seven away games and Parma are fancied to get on the scoresheet.
Both teams have scored in Parma’s last 11 league games and although going toe-to-toe with Atalanta is a risky strategy, they look good value to at least grab a consolation.
Key stat
Atalanta have scored 11 goals in their last three meetings with Parma, winning on each occasion.
