Seattle must win to stop hosts having divisional supremacy

The Rams lost their unbeaten record against New Orleans last week, but they are still firmly in charge of the NFC West.

Victory over Seattle would put them in almost an impregnable position, but expect the Seahawks to put up a bold show.

This is a massive game for Pete Carroll's side, who are the Rams' only realistic challengers for divisional supremacy as Arizona and San Francisco have struggled for most of the opening half of the season.

They simply have to win and they should be confident that they can stand up to the Rams, having lost just 33-31 against them in Week Five when they were sunk by nine fourth-quarter points.

Seattle running back Chris Carson limped out of last week's defeat to the LA Chargers, which was a disappointment after four wins in five games, and they will be desperate for him to pass a fitness test after he chalked up more than 100 rushing yards in the first meeting.

Bookmakers expect Sean McVay's Rams to make a statement after their 45-35 loss to the Saints but they may not be able to run away with things.

The defeat in Louisiana was the sixth time they have conceded at least 20 points this season and the stoked-up Seahawks could be capable of staying within what looks a generous handicap.

The game is scheduled to go ahead as planned but the NFL is monitoring air quality in the area due to the wildfires that forced the Rams to cancel practice on Friday. Some LA players and coaches have had to evacuate their homes.
