Preview

Steven Gerrard's Rangers began to assert their authority at the Scottish Premiership summit before the international break, defeating Livingston, Dundee and Hibernian, and are in good shape going into their top-of-the-table clash with Hearts.

But their opponents are yet to lose a league fixture this season, and have netted 14 goals in eight games.

The clash at Ibrox could be a high-octane affair and a bet on both teams to score at a shade of odds-on could be the way to go.

Hibernian suffered their first defeat of the Scottish Premiership campaign just before the international break, losing 2-1 to pacesetters Rangers, but can get back to winning ways at home to Dundee United on Saturday.

They remain on the tail of the divisional leaders, having won four and drawn three of their other seven assignments, and have been particularly solid at Easter Road.

Opponents Dundee United are also progressing well but were comfortably beaten 3-1 when these sides met in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals last month and they could succumb to a dangerous Hibs attack made up of Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet.

Further down the standings, St Mirren can continue their good run away to strugglers Ross County.

Jim Goodwin's men claimed their first league wins of the season before the latest round of internationals, defeating Aberdeen and Livingston, and prior to that took a decent point off Hibernian.

And this week's opponents Ross County, who are yet to record a league triumph this term, will represent a step-down in quality.

County have lost three of their last four games in the Scottish top flight and are worth opposing.
