Preview

Dundee United held Aberdeen to a 0-0 draw last week, but they look ready to be opposed when St Johnstone visit Tannadice in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

That stalemate at Pittodrie was a good result for the Terrors, but there wasn’t much to shout about in terms of performance. Mickey Mellon’s side managed just a single shot on target and two corners in a game the Dons dominated, and that has been a recurring theme for United.

Prior to the Aberdeen game United were hammered 3-0 by Celtic, snatched a late draw at home to Motherwell and were outplayed despite beating Kilmarnock 2-0 at Tannadice.

St Johnstone are without a win in their last seven Premiership matches, but they have faced Celtic, Aberdeen and Rangers in that run and although they have failed to beat Hamilton and Ross County in their last two top-flight contests, they have created plenty of chances.

United have been producing better results, but the superior performances have come from the Saints and they look a nice price to claim an overdue victory.

There’s a full programme of Scottish Cup fixtures this weekend and one that stands out from a punting perspective is Raith’s trip to Stirling.

Championship side Rovers are being asked to give their League Two rivals a one-goal start and that looks well within their capabilities.

John McGlynn’s side have put five goals past Morton, Queen of the South and Alloa this season and their 11 away league goals is the joint-highest in the second tier this season.

On only one occasion this season have Stirling managed more than a single goal at Forthbank and Raith’s added quality looks likely to show.
