Preview

It's been a baptism of fire for Brian Rice at Alloa, and he can celebrate his first win in charge of the Wasps when Peterhead visit in a League One relegation scrap.

Rice has presided over three matches against top-four sides but improvements have been obvious.

They may very well have beaten table-toppers Cove had they kept 11 men on the pitch when leading 2-0. That ended 2-2 which was a sign of progress in itself and a 1-1 draw at Queens Park was another decent result.

They'll fancy they can take care of Peterhead, who are shocking travellers, have lost three in a row and shipped 11 in their last four.

Montrose are limping towards the line in the same division and could pay for previous misdemeanours at home to free-scoring Cove.

The Gable Endies are without right-back Cammie Ballantyne, centre-back Aidan Quinn and forward Mick Gardyne, who are all suspended, which may force Stewart Petrie into packing his midfield and trying to get a point.

But Montrose have stopped scoring – five goals in the last six and never more than one in any of them – and Cove, unbeaten in the league since October, may well have their measure.
