The crucial Old Firm Derby takes centre stage in Scotland this weekend but there is still plenty to play for in the Scottish Premiership outside of the title race.

Just four points separate the fourth and tenth-placed teams with just two games of the SPL regular season to go.

Dundee United sit two points above Hibernian and it’s difficult to see why Hibs are odds-on at Easter Road on Saturday. Yes, Shaun Maloney’s men have been hit hard by injuries and suspensions in recent weeks, but they have won just one of their last 11 top-flight matches.

Key defender Ryan Porteous is banned for the visit of the Terrors and Paul McGinn, Demetri Mitchell, Kyle Magennis and Kevin Nisbet are long-term absentees. It also looks unlikely that Harry Clarke will be rushed back into action, with a double-header against Hearts on the horizon, and that makes it difficult to see where the necessary improvement will come from.

Dropping down to the Championship, it looks like a straight match between Kilmarnock and Arbroath for the title. Killie managed a 2-1 win over Partick last weekend and the Accies can match the league leaders with a win at Firhill.

The Jags have lost four on the bounce and that includes heavy 4-0 and 4-1 defeats against Hamilton and Dunfermline. Ian McCall’s side went down 2-1 at Rugby Park last weekend but that scoreline was a little flattering.

Arbroath have lost just two of their last ten Championship away matches and they look excellent value to extend that good recent run.
