Final preview

St Johnstone have the chance of a memorable cup double at Hampden Park on Saturday but it may not be a high-scoring Scottish Cup final.

The Saints lifted the League Cup when beating Livingston earlier in the campaign and they now face a stiff test against a solid Hibs outfit.

Jack Ross's men are bidding to take the trophy home to Easter Road for only the second time in 119 years and their chance looks to be accurately reflected by the match prices.

Hibs finished as the Scottish Premiership's third-best side, behind Rangers and Celtic and most of that success was down to a tight defence. The Hibees shipped just three goals to reach this stage of the competition and they conceded only 35 times in their 38 top-flight matches.

At least one side has failed to score in five of Hibs's last seven matches and that includes games against St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Celtic.

The Saints have already enjoyed a taste of cup glory this season and they have been performing well on the xG data. However, some below par finishing meant that they have scored only nine home league goals this term.

Callum Davidson's side have lost only three of their last 16 matches and they certainly arrive at Hampden with a decent chance. However, the Saints have scored just 13 times in their last 13 games and it's possible that they could struggle to break down a solid Hibs rearguard.

There two sides have met five times already this season with both teams scoring in only one of those games. There is bound to be plenty of tension at Hampden, given the grandeur of the occasion and it looks likely that at least one side will fail to strike.

Key stat

Just one of the five meetings between these two this season has seen both teams score.
