Philadelphia defied the odds to end Seattle’s 12-game unbeaten run last time out but they could struggle to tame a Sporting Kansas City outfit within touching distance of a playoff berth.

A 5-1 demolition of San Jose Earthquakes in their last game propelled City to the top of the Western Conference and their array of attacking midfielders could cause problems for a brittle Union defence.

The hosts kept a clean sheet in their most recent outing but that followed a harrowing 4-1 defeat to Montreal in which they allowed the opposition to have 15 shots.

They have already been overturned by struggling Toronto and LA Galaxy sides on home soil this term and the visitors could prove too tough a test.

Kansas City have won six of their last seven matches, claiming the scalps of highflying Portland and Los Angeles FC, and have notched in each of their last 12 games.

Experienced City boss Peter Vermes has sought success with a dynamic 4-3-3 system this year and the Union could play into their hands if they opt for their usual reserved approach.

Backing the away side to take the spoils could be a value bet as a turbulent MLS campaign approaches its climax.
