Crystal Palace were left reeling yesterday after manager Sam Allardyce told them he wants to quit Selhurst Park after just five months in the post.

Allardyce’s decision came to light after he met with chairman Steve Parish to discuss the club’s plans for next season.

The 62-year-old has a proud record of never being relegated as a manager and had looked set for an extended stay at Palace after steering them away from the Premier League drop zone.

Watford's search for a new manager has gone in a new direction with ex Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt strongly linked with the position vacated by Walter Mazzarri on Sunday.

Schmidt - out of work since parting company with Leverkusen in March – is reportedly high on Watford's target list and is challenging Claudio Ranieri for favouritism. Schmidt was the narrow 11-4 favourite last night, with Ranieri 3-1.

Hull boss Marco Silva started the week as market-leader but eased to 8-1 after reports that he is in talks over taking the Porto job.

Kyle Walker is been strongly linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer and three big clubs are reportedly chasing his signature.

Coral make Manchester City 4-9 favourites to sign the right-back, while Chelsea are 5-2 and Bayern Munich 4-1.

Next Watford manager (best prices): 11-4 R Schmidt, 3 C Ranieri, 6 M Silva, 7 bar.
Coral – K Walker's next club: 4-9 Man City, 5-2 Chelsea, 4 Bayern Munich, 10 bar.
