Betting preview

It's been a sorry campaign for Aberdeen and the Dons are looking to avoid their third straight home league defeat against Dundee on Saturday.

Back-to-back reverses against Ross County and Livingston don't read well for the Dons, but there are reasons to believe things may turn in the Pittodrie outfit's favour.

Jim Goodwin has seen his side win just one game since he made the switch from St Mirren but the performances have been decent and there is a need to create a positive feeling at the club for next season.

Aberdeen dominated against Ross and Livi, winning the shot count comfortably and bossing possession in both of those contests, and they really should have come away with more than two defeats.

Ross McCrorie's sending-off didn't help last weekend but the Dons did manage a good 3-1 win over Hibs before that and they should have beaten today's opponents at Dens Park this month.

The fight may have gone out of Dundee after their 1-1 home draw against St Johnstone last weekend at a time when they have found their scoring touch.

The Dark Blues have hit five goals in their last three SPL games, and although a return to the Championship looks likely they may still be able to contribute to an entertaining Pittodrie contest.

St Johnstone have just four games to get out of the relegation playoff place and today's rivals St Mirren are one of the sides the Saints are trying to catch.

Callum Davidson's men have given themselves a chance with wins over Motherwell and Livingston but they have scored just five goals in their last seven matches and look too short at 6-4.

St Mirren have lost seven of their last eight top-flight matches, but their performances haven't been as poor as those results suggest and they should be able to avoid defeat at McDiarmid Park.
