Saturday's betting preview

Aberdeen were impressive 4-1 winners at home to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership last weekend and the Dons look good value for further Pittodrie success against Motherwell on Saturday.

Admittedly the Dons benefited from the dismissal of Saints' Declan Gallagher a week ago but, looking at the early exchanges of the season as a whole, the markets don't appear to have caught up with the progress of Jim Goodwin's side.

Aberdeen commanded 75 per cent possession and had 23 shots against the Buddies which is a world away from the uninspiring efforts they were producing last season. Prior to the start of the Premiership season, Goodwin's men won all of their League Cup group matches, in impressive fashion to boot, and the Dons can continue to make a good impression.

Goodwin has healthy competition for places in forward areas and with new signings Bojan Miovski, Leighton Clarkson and Luis Lopes all finding the net last weekend, there's a far greater cutting edge at Pittodrie this term.

Steven Hammell has taken the reins at Motherwell, but on the evidence of last week's 2-1 defeat at home to St Johnstone he still has work to do.

In the Championship, Cove Rangers look excellent value at Inverness. The Wee Rangers are a side on the up and look to have adapted well to the second tier.

Jim McIntyre's men played well in an opening 2-0 home win against Raith and although Cove were beaten at Morton last weekend, they had numerous chances in front of goal.

Inverness were held by Queen's Park on the opening day and they managed just two shots on target at Abroath last time out.

There isn't a huge amount of creativity in the Caley Thistle squad and they look vulnerable favourites.
