Salford and Fylde worth backing in the National League
Graham Alexander's side can make it seven wins in seven
3pm Saturday
It took almost two months for big-spending Salford to reach the top of the National League but Graham Alexander's table-toppers are in ominously good touch and can make it seven wins in seven by beating second-bottom Dover on the Kent coast.
Salford's ante-post backers might have got a little concerned when the Ammies collected just one point from their first three games.
But Alexander's side soon adjusted to the higher level of football and have played with a swagger in recent matches, winning 3-0 at home to Hartlepool and at Maidenhead.
High-profile summer signing Adam Rooney has helped himself to nine league goals and has been getting plenty of support from winger Tom Walker, who has scored four in the last six games.
Salford are looking tight at the back, keeping six clean sheets in their last seven, and must be confident of piling on the misery for Dover, who are second-bottom with one win from 14 games.
Dover missed out on last season's playoffs on goal difference but they are operating with a new-look squad and have not won since a 4-3 success at home to fellow strugglers Havant & Waterlooville in August.
The Whites have lost their last two home games without scoring and are heading for another defeat.
Martin Allen is under massive pressure in the Chesterfield hotseat after 11 games without a win and his troubles could be increased by seventh-placed AFC Fylde, who are pushing to make the playoffs for a second successive season.
There had been hopes Allen would lead Chesterfield straight back to Sky Bet League Two but another relegation is looking more likely at this stage.
The Spireites have picked up just one point from their last five home games, scoring once in the process.
Chesterfield's chances of unsettling Fylde are reduced by the completion of a three-game suspension for forward Zavon Hines, who is their second-highest scorer with three goals.
Fylde have lost just once this season, a 2-0 reverse at home to leaders Salford, and look the value at odds-against.
