Saints could spring a surprise at Partick

St Mirren have been backed to enjoy a good season and they can spring a Betfred Cup surprise by winning at Partick Thistle.

Jack Ross worked wonders last season by saving a seemingly doomed Saints side from relegation and there's real optimism down Paisley way they can mount a title challenge in the Ladbrokes Championship this term.

Ross has already signed some good players this summer such as Cammy Smith from Aberdeen and Gavin Reilly from Hearts.

Thistle overachieved last season by reaching the top six in the Ladbrokes Premiership, but they collapsed soon after reaching it and manager Alan Archibald has admitted he needs to add to his small squad. Saints are worth a small nibble at a decent price.
