Jurgen Klopp came mighty close to a knockout double last season, so back him to make it third time lucky by getting his hands on the EFL Cup.

Agonisingly pipped by Manchester City at Wembley in February, Liverpool went on to suffer more cup heartache when they were beaten by Seville in the Europa League final.

Two near misses hinted at the strides being made at Anfield under Klopp – and also confirmed that he is a manager who takes a competition such as this seriously. He was prepared to take on the hectic fixture list – they played 63 games last season, 20 more than champions Leicester – though it had to be a factor in them finishing eighth in the Premier League.
