Match preview

Reading's Championship promotion hopes are hanging by a thread but they can retain an interest until at least next weekend by registering a home win over Swansea.

Reaching the playoffs is going to be a tall order for the Royals, who are six points outside the top six with three games to go.

However, they have been doing well at the Madejski Stadium – taking 11 points from their last five home games – and they can take advantage of a Swansea side who have lost their way in recent weeks.

Swansea have been in the heat of the automatic promotion battle for much of the campaign but they have lost five of their last eight matches and their offensive threat has been significantly reduced by a hamstring injury to 15-goal top scorer Andre Ayew, who is rated a major doubt for this weekend.

The Swans do not look like a side bound for promotion and their poor run may be set to continue.

Key stat

Reading are unbeaten in their last five home fixtures
