Reading missed a great chance to return to the top of the Championship when drawing 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek but they can respond in the right fashion by defeating Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium.

Not all managers like to follow a Wednesday night fixture with a Saturday lunchtime game, but Reading's Veljko Paunovic hasn't grumbled much despite his team being asked to do it two weeks in a row.

The Royals impressed during last weekend's 3-1 success at home to Bristol City and the physical demands of Wednesday's trip to Hillsborough were reduced by a 30th-minute red card for Owls midfielder Liam Shaw.

Reading strived to take advantage, winning the shot count 20 to three, and had three decent penalty shouts turned down.

But they can take out their frustration on Forest, who remain in relegation danger despite an initial upturn in results since Chris Hughton took over in October.

Hughton's side are winless in four games and their struggles may continue.
