Team news

Reading
Andy Yiadom, Yakou Meite, Felipe Araruna (all knee), Liam Moore (foot), Lewis Gibson (quad) and George Puscas (hernia) remain sidelined.

Coventry
Jodi Jones (knee) is out long-term and Tyler Walker (calf) is not expected to feature until February.

Match preview

Sixth-placed Reading have not been outside the Championship's top eight all season and can strengthen their grip on a playoff place by defeating relegation-threatened Coventry.

It was no great surprise that Reading failed to maintain their stunning start to the campaign which saw them take 22 points from their first eight games.

Veljko Paunovic's side followed that run with four successive defeats but they have rediscovered their composure in recent weeks, allowing them to open up a four-point buffer to the teams outside the top six.

Star player Lucas Joao returned from injury with both goals in the 2-1 success at Huddersfield two weeks ago, taking his league tally to 13, and his quality could make the difference against Coventry, whose main aim is to stay in the division.

The Sky Blues have lost three of their last four away fixtures and could experience another disappointing road trip at the Madejski Stadium.

Key stat

Coventry have won only two of their last 13 away fixtures.
