Team news

Rangers
Defender Borna Barisic (head) is a doubt and Sheyi Ojo also has a knock.

Celtic
Kristoffer Ajer is a major doubt after being carried off during the midweek win in Sweden and Hatem Abd Elhamed is unlikely to be fit. New loan signings Moritz Bauer and Mohamed Elyounoussi could feature.

Match preview

Rangers are worth backing to win the first Old Firm clash of the season at Ibrox in what could well be a pulsating encounter.

Both sides go into the derby with perfect records in the Ladbrokes Premiership this season and already it's clear the Glasgow giants are a country mile ahead of the rest of Scottish football.

Rangers fans are confident that Steven Gerrard will prevent Celtic reaching the legendary mark of nine-in-a-row again and, while their away performances make that far from certain, they can put down a marker by beating the Bhoys.

Gerrard's side have started the campaign impressively and they gained an enormous boost from Thursday's injury-time winner against Legia Warsaw in the Europa League.

They play with energy and pace and will fancy their chances against a Celtic side they twice dismantled at Ibrox last year when the 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines flattered the Hoops.

The hosts' plan will be to stop Celtic skipper Scott Brown having any time on the ball. If Rangers can harass and pressurise the grizzled veteran midfielder, they should get plenty of joy through the likes of Joe Aribo and Steven Davis.

Celtic's defence is their weak point and there is a huge question mark over who Neil Lennon will opt for. With Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Ryan Christie in the side, they will always have a goal threat and can add to the entertainment.

Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos, who should get the nod over Jermain Defoe, must break his Old Firm goal drought sooner or later and he and his teammates could be celebrating in Glasgow.

Key stat

Celtic have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven games in all competitions.
