QPR's mini-revival can continue against Millwall
Lions without injured central defender Shaun Hutchinson
Sky Bet Championship
Sky Sports Football & Main Event, 7.45pm Wednesday
QPR are enjoying a mini-revival, taking seven points from their last three Sky Bet Championship games, and they should be backed to defeat Millwall at Loftus Road.
It is still too early to know whether QPR will be safe in the second tier.
They looked in desperate trouble after defeats in their opening four games, including an infamous 7-1 drubbing at West Brom.
Manager Steve McClaren was under immense pressure until an ugly 1-0 success at home to Wigan stopped the rot.
At that stage McClaren was far more concerned about points than performances but he has got both in the last two matches, with QPR carving out the better chances in a 0-0 draw at Birmingham before deservedly winning 2-1 at Bolton.
The Hoops' success over the Trotters lifted them out of the drop zone but they need to focus on putting more points between themselves and the bottom three.
A transfer embargo will prevent QPR from doing any business in January and their squad does not look big enough to cope with a significant run of injuries.
QPR are looking reasonably well stocked in attack since the loan signings of Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells.
Both have decent track records in the Sky Bet Championship and their extra quality could settle tight matches in QPR's favour.
Millwall know they will have to defend diligently but are still without injured central defender Shaun Hutchinson, who was voted their player of the season last term.
Since Hutchinson has been out of the side, Millwall have mustered just one point from three games.
They drew 1-1 at home to injury-hit Leeds on Saturday – ending a sequence of three successive league defeats – but the concession of an 89th-minute equaliser was another major blow for Neil Harris's side.
The Lions are going through a difficult spell and the deadline-day departure of star midfielder George Saville to Middlesbrough has not helped.
Expectations were raised after they came so close to reaching the playoffs last season.
But Millwall's physical, direct tactics are no longer a surprise to opposing teams, including QPR, who can get the better of them.
