Match preview

The grind of the Championship is beginning to takes its toll on teams with both Stoke and Queens Park Rangers running low on numbers ahead of their clash at Loftus Road.

Hoops boss Mark Warburton says he’s spoken to the club doctor more than his wife this week after being left counting the cost of Monday’s win at Derby - Rangers’ fourth win in their last five games.

Charlie Austin is one of several players who face a late fitness test after picking up an injury at Pride Park and could join fellow striker Lyndon Dykes (ankle) on the sidelines.

Stoke are without a number of regulars too, including playmaker Nick Powell, and the Potters have failed to find the net in back-to-back defeats to Blackburn and Bristol City.

The omens aren’t good for the Potters ending their goalscoring drought in west London with QPR conceding only eight home goals all season and these two playoff hopefuls could end up cancelling each other out.

Key stat

There have been fewer than three goals in seven of QPR’s ten home league games this season.
