Match preview

Only Championship leaders Norwich have won more second-tier away games than Preston this season, but Alex Neil's side are struggling at Deepdale and face a tough visit from playoff-chasing Reading.

North End have lost seven games on their own patch - only Birmingham have more home defeats - and the difference in their home and away performances has been startling.

They have scored just ten goals in 12 home games compared to 21 goals in 13 games on the road with striker Scott Sinclair scoring once at Deepdale but seven times on North End's travels.

Neil's side will have been boosted by a win at Birmingham last time, but this is only the second time they have faced one of the division's top six at home.

The Royals have lost only one of their last six away games and, with the smell of revenge in their nostrils following a 3-0 home defeat to Preston in November, they can win at Deepdale for the third successive year.

Key stat

Reading have lost one of their last six away games.
