Manchester City kept up the pressure in the Premier League title race with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Brighton at the Etihad.

Kevin De Bruyne gave City the lead after just two minutes and Sergio Aguero added a second-half double to help seal a routine success for the Citizens, who are unbeaten in 18 league matches.

Aguero took his seasonal tally to six goals from four games, taking him one clear of Norwich's Teemu Pukki and City teammate Raheem Sterling in the race to be top scorer.

City’s title rivals Liverpool made it four wins out of four in the league with a 3-0 victory at Burnley and the Reds are 12-5 to win the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s Citizens are 4-9 favourites with Tottenham a distant third in the betting at 35-1.

While the top two go from strength to strength, neighbours Manchester United's difficult start to the season continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Dan James gave United a 10th-minute lead with his third goal of the season but Saints defender Jannik Vestergaard levelled things up with a towering 58th-minute header and the home side held on for a point despite the dismissal of left-back Kevin Danso for two yellow-card offences.

The result cranks up the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has presided over just one victory in the last ten competitive games.

Paddy Power cut Solskjaer from 12-1 to 7-1 to be the next Premier League manager to go, making him third-favourite behind Watford's Javi Gracia at 11-8 and Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino, a 9-2 chance.

Chelsea are level with United on five points after throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Sheffield United.

The 2-5 Blues looked nailed on for victory, trading at 1-100 in-play after Tammy Abraham netted twice in the first half. But the Blades stormed back to rescue a point thanks to a 46th-minute Callum Robinson strike and a late own goal from Kurt Zouma.

Leicester are up to third after maintaining their unbeaten start with a 3-1 victory at home to Bournemouth.

Two goals from Jamie Vardy and one from Youri Tielemans clinched the points for the Foxes, who were trimmed from 10-1 to 9-1 in Paddy Power's top-four betting.

Crystal Palace and West Ham climbed into the top six thanks to home wins over Aston Villa (1-0) and Norwich (2-0).

Jordan Ayew's 73rd-minute goal clinched a second successive victory for the Eagles while Sebastien Haller and Andriy Yarmolenko were on target for the Hammers, who have taken seven points from nine since losing 5-0 to Manchester City in their opening match.

Watford remain at the foot of the table but picked up their first point with a 1-1 draw at Newcastle. Will Hughes gave the Hornets a second-minute lead but Fabian Schar replied for the Magpies, who climbed out of the relegation zone.
