Verdict

Remember before the rollercoaster ride that was the World Cup when it was Erling Haaland rather than Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappe hogging the headlines?

Haaland took the Premier League by storm after his move to Manchester City and has already bagged 18 goals in just 13 league appearances this season. A 3-1 chance to win the Golden Boot before a ball was kicked in anger, the Norwegian star is now just 1-6 to top the scoring charts.

Harry Kane is second, six goals adrift of Haaland, and while he could make up that deficit, for those looking to get involved at this stage the betting without Haaland appeals most.

Another summer arrival, Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez, was touted as Haaland’s biggest challenger for the Golden Boot at the season’s outset and he could have a strong second half to the campaign.

After an inauspicious start, Nunez scored five times in ten league matches before the break and has also hit the woodwork four times – more than any other player in the Premier League. Nunez was starting to find his groove before the World Cup with a goal against Napoli and a brace at home to Southampton.

He failed to make much of an impact in Qatar as Uruguay crashed out at the group stage but their early exit could be a blessing for the Reds.

Hills offer three places each way in their top scorer market without Haaland and Nunez could be the man to support.
