Aldershot performed way above general expectations to finish fifth in the National League last season and can do likewise this term by finishing in the top three and giving handicap backers a great run for their money.

The Shots are receiving an 11-point head start over divisional favourites Tranmere, which looks a lot because they are gearing up for a major promotion push.

Last season they got off to a slow start but powered to the finish line, losing just one of their last 21 league fixtures.
