Montreal v Seattle: betting preview and tips for the MLS showdown

Sounders and Impact look capable of taking their chances

Montreal are four points off the top of MLS's Eastern Conference but they have claimed just one win in their last five matches so a victory over Seattle would provide a welcome relief.

While the Impact are hardly living up to their name on the road, they have suffered just two defeats in their last 12 home matches, which makes Saturday's 3-0 reverse against Orlando all the more surprising.

Montreal, for whom former Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna is a familiar face in defence, enjoyed the majority of possession in that game but having conceded three first-half goals they could not find a way back.

They did create chances so the visitors were perhaps flattered by the margin of victory and Seattle's poor record on the road means the Canadians are favourites to bounce back.

The Sounders have collected just one win on the road in their last eight and they could surely have done without a fourth consecutive away match.

They have lost their last two - a Johnny Russell hat-trick sunk them against Sporting Kansas City in a 3-2 defeat, while two own goals confirmed their downfall in a 2-1 reverse in Dallas on Sunday.

However, they have scored in all but three of their last 16 away matches and Peruvian striker Raul Ruidiaz could take some shackling.

He has found the net in three of his last four matches and with the Impact likely to be positive after their recent loss, there could be a few goals.

Recommendation
Over 2.5 goals
