Punters have latched on to media stories suggesting that Mikel Arteta could be in the frame to replace Arsene Wenger as manager of Arsenal.

The Manchester City assistant coach, who made 110 appearances in five years for the Gunners before retiring in 2016, has been linked with the post as reportedly being the first choice of Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Arteta, who has never managed a team, was 33-1 with bet365 on Monday to replace Wenger but was just 6-1 on Tuesday night.

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, who has been out of work since leaving his post at Camp Nou at the end of last season, was as short as 7-4, but Betfred offer a standout 3-1.

Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is 16-1 to make a return to the Premier League with the north London outfit, but reports in Italy suggested the ex-Bayern Munich supremo has been offered the national-team job.
