Man City hit Chelsea for six in Premier League thrashing

Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table after four goals in the first 25 minutes set them up for a crushing 6-0 home victory over Chelsea and the Citizens are 8-11 for the title with Liverpool eased to 11-8.

Raheem Sterling swept City ahead in the fourth minute and the game was soon done and dusted with Sergio Aguero netting twice and Ilkay Gundogan firing home from long range.

Aguero added a second-half penalty to complete his hat-trick and Sterling bagged his second to inflict Chelsea's heaviest defeat since they lost 7-0 at Nottingham Forest in April 1991. The 6-0 scoreline had been available to back at 175-1 at kick-off.

City and Liverpool are also going head to head in the Golden Boot betting as Aguero's goals took his tally to 17 – level with Reds forward Mohamed Salah at the top of the scoring charts. Aguero was cut from 7-2 to 11-8 to finish the season as top scorer with Salah 6-4 to retain his crown.

Maurizio Sarri's attack-minded 4-1-2-3 formation left Chelsea's defence hopelessly exposed against a City side eager to send a message to their title rivals.

Their performance raises huge doubts over the future of Sarri, who has been slashed from 14-1 to 6-4 with Paddy Power to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job. The firm make Frank Lampard and Diego Simeone 5-1 joint-favourites to succeed Sarri.

City face Chelsea again in the EFL Cup final on February 24 and they are 4-9 to lift the trophy. Chelsea are 9-4 to win the cup and have been eased to 5-4 for a top four finish.

Pep Guardiola's side are also in action in the FA Cup (away to Newport County) and the Champions League (away to Schalke) before resuming their league campaign at home to West Ham on February 27. Betfred trimmed them from 22-1 to 18-1 to win all four major trophies this season.

Tottenham remain in the title hunt after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Leicester at Wembley.

Davinson Sanchez, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min were on target for the Lilywhites while Leicester wasted a stack of chances, including a second-half penalty from substitute Jamie Vardy which was saved by Hugo Lloris.

Spurs are 25-1 to win the title and 1-7 for a top-four finish while Leicester boss Claude Puel is 3-1 with Paddy Power to be the next top-flight manager to depart.

Manchester United's chances of beating Paris St-Germain at Old Trafford on Tuesday have been boosted after the French side suffered injuries to defender Thomas Meunier (concussion) and striker Edinson Cavani (hip).

They are joined on the sidelines by Neymar, who has not recovered from a foot injury sustained last month.
