Loons look a sensible bet in Scottish League One derby
Forfar, Dundee United and Falkirk are worth backing
Ladbrokes Championship, League One & League Two
3pm Saturday
Forfar Athletic can win one of the many Angus derbies in Ladbrokes League One against Brechin City.
The Loons' manager Jim Weir has been in charge of all four Angus clubs in the region, who are all now in Scottish football's third tier, and he will be hoping he can extend their decent home record by defeating Brechin at Station Park.
Forfar have beaten Raith Rovers, Montrose and Dumbarton recently at home and Brechin don't tend to travel well, having won just once in their eight away league games this season.
Forfar were boosted by the news that key player Dale Hilson has signed a contract extension and, with Brechin having lost five games in a row and in poor form, the home side should be able to get the three points.
A Forfar victory would deepen City's worries about back-to-back relegations after their record-breaking winless campaign last term.
Dundee United need to prove they are serious contenders in the Ladbrokes Championship title race by winning at Alloa.
The Tannadice side have recovered from a shock 5-0 home mauling to Ayr United and, that aberration apart, they have being going well under Robbie Neilson.
They will face a major test at the Indodrill Stadium, however. Not only do Alloa play on an artificial pitch but they have also narrowed the width of the surface which makes it extremely tricky for the opposition.
As part-time minnows, Jim Goodwin's side are entitled to all the help they can get and their home matches are usually tight contests.
However, it's at unwelcoming places such as these where United need to go out and put down a marker and Pavol Safranko and his teammates should have enough about them to allow the visitors to return to Tayside with three points.
Falkirk can stun Dunfermline at a big price and break a home hoodoo in their derby clash.
The Bairns have been rank this term with no home league wins and only four goals scored at the Falkirk Stadium all season.
Yet there are signs that Ray McKinnon is starting to get things right. Last week's narrow defeat at Dundee United was their first loss in six league games and they also won impressively at Inverness.
Dunfermline are a side struggling for confidence and they have failed to find the net in their last three games. Falkirk have already beaten them this season at East End Park and they are worth taking a chance on at generous odds.
