Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann distanced himself from the Borussia Dortmund job this week and can prove his loyalty to the Red Bulls with victory over Die Schwarzgelben in the Bundesliga this weekend.

Dortmund's disappointing league performances prompted the dismissal of Lucien Favre last month with Edin Terzic taking temporary charge but they are thought to still be on the lookout for a new manager.

And it is no surprise to see Nagelsmann linked with the job, given the 33-year-old not only led Leipzig to the Champions League semi-finals last season but has got them second in the Bundesliga, only a point behind reigning champions Bayern Munich.

Leipzig's home record has been impressive with six wins and a draw from their seven assignments and they have shipped only three Bundesliga goals on home soil this season.

As for Dortmund, they got back on track with victory over Wolfsburg in their first game of 2021 but finished last year with only three wins in their final eight league games, losing to Cologne, Stuttgart and Union Berlin.

They have already lost five games this season and, with confidence levels low, they could crumble when faced with a Leipzig side who are difficult to break down but also have a number of players who know where the net is.

Angelino, Yussuf Poulsen, Emil Forsberg and Marcel Sabitzer have all excelled in the final third since the club lost Timo Werner to Chelsea last summer and they can help Leipzig keep the pressure on Bayern Munich with maximum points.
