Leaders Dundalk are well worth a wager to show dominance

Victory over Waterford United would ensure that Dundalk stay on top of the League of Ireland Premier table and perhaps kill off any hopes of this season's title race involving more than two teams.

Waterford's shock loss to Limerick on Friday, when Dundalk and Cork both won comfortably, allied to Derry's defeat to St Patrick's, did nothing for the prospects of a more open battle for the championship, and the Blues look hugely up against it on Monday night.

Waterford's concession of six goals against Limerick was shocking stuff and they should be much more focused on defending against Dundalk. However, John Kavanagh, Garry Comerford and Derek Daly are all injured and Stanley Aborah is suspended.

Dundalk's squad depth is the reason many people expect them to win the league. They finished their 2-0 victory over Bohemians strongly on Friday and should dominate once more against Waterford. They are a confident bet to win by at least two goals.

The odds about Cork, away to Limerick, and Derry City, who host Bray, are similarly prohibitive while Shamrock Rovers host St Patrick's in an intriguing game on Tuesday evening.

Pat's are seven points ahead of Rovers, showing how much they have progressed since barely creating a chance when the sides met earlier in the season in Tallaght.

They make some appeal in the draw-no-bet market as they will surely go into this game with far greater confidence than Rovers.
