Verdict

Lawrence Shankland FC, aka Dundee United, should finally smash their way back to the top flight after doing what they should have done for the past three years.

The fate of the other teams in the league was really sealed when Robbie Neilson persuaded Shankland to leave Ayr United to move to Tannadice.

However much they are paying him, it's been worth it for his 20 goals in all competitions and one for Scotland. Barring a Devon Loch-style collapse, the Arabs will comfortably win the title with loads to spare.

The playoff spots should include Caley Thistle and Dundee, despite some poor performances, and Ayr United too. Alloa Athletic's spirited efforts to survive could finally be in vain.

Ladbrokes League One

Already advised

Falkirk
4pts 4-7 general

Verdict

Falkirk are making incredibly heavy weather of winning a league they should be cruising, but their big guns should count in the end.

Lee Miller and David McCracken are now in charge of a group of players who should be embarrassed they are playing in Scottish football's third tier.

But their bulky squad should see them overtake the others and they quite easily recruit some more big guns come next month.

Their biggest dangers should be Airdrie, who are on a great run, but Raith Rovers' injuries, including Lewis Vaughan, could cost them.

Montrose could sneak into the play-offs ahead of Dumbarton who have been steadily improving. Stranraer look doomed.

Verdict

Cove Rangers and Edinburgh City are locked in a fascinating two-battle for the title, with the Aberdeen side creaking recently.

The Balmoral Stadium outfit have big name players in their squad for this level and have won every game at home. Edinburgh narrowly missed out last season and look like they have improved as the season has progressed.

An interesting very long shot could be Queen's Park. They have ditched 152 years of amateurism and are going pro. They are also bankrolled by Glasgow businessman's Lord Willie Haughey's £200 million personal fortune.

While it's a big ask to reel the leaders in, they might surprise people with the calibre of their recruits next month.

Albion Rovers could face the playoffs.
