Monaco can enhance Ligue 1 title hopes

Monaco got the better of Lyon in the French Cup less than a fortnight ago and the principality outfit can repeat the feat in Ligue 1 this weekend.

That 2-0 victory over Les Gones is part of a four-game winning streak and nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions for Monaco, who are still very much in the Ligue 1 title race.

Going into the weekend's matches they trail second-placed Paris Saint-Germain by a solitary point and leaders Lille by two and they have shown they can rise to the occasion in these kinds of matches.

Since the turn of the year, Niko Kovac's men have won away to PSG and held Lille to a draw and even in that stalemate they won the shot count 8-5 and saw 64 per cent of the ball.

Lyon, meanwhile, crumbled under the pressure in their last league assignment at home to Lille, losing 3-2, and with their faint title aspirations fading fast, they are worth opposing.

Take Granada to build on Barca success

Even before their 2-1 win over Barcelona, Granada looked a solid bet at home to Cadiz this Sunday and that win only gives more weight to the argument for backing them.

They have had some tough road trips recently, visiting and losing to Manchester United and Sevilla prior to the Barca game at the Camp Nou, but Granada are at their strongest on home soil.

The Andalusians boast one of the best home records in La Liga in 2020-21, winning nine of their 16 league matches at Los Carmenes.

The latest of those wins saw them thump Eibar 4-1 and a Cadiz side locked in mid-table obscurity are unlikely to put up much of a fight.

Cadiz have managed only two wins in their last seven contests and have drawn with Celta Vigo and Real Valladolid either side of defeat to Real Madrid in their last three games. Take Granada to win in this one.

Inter should have few issues in Crotone

Victory over Crotone this weekend will move Inter a step closer to the Serie A title and it is hard to see past a comfortable win for the Milan outfit.

Should they prevail and second-placed Atalanta fail to beat Sassuolo on Sunday, Antonio Conte's men will win the league and central to their success this campaign has been a watertight rearguard.

The accomplished back three of Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni are among the best in Europe and have helped the club ship only 29 goals in 33 matches.

Basement boys Crotone have been woeful all campaign, losing 25 of their 33 games and they lost 6-2 in the reverse of this fixture back in January.

With so much on the line, Inter may play more conservatively this time around and a win to nil looks a solid selection.
