Galatasaray have not topped the Turkish standings since the end of October but they can return to the summit – displacing city rivals Istanbul Basaksehir - by justifying odds-on favouritism at mid-table Konyaspor.

A domestic double is within reach for Gala, who take on Akhisarspor in next month's Turkish Cup final.

For a long time they have been playing catch-up in the title race but the door opened this weekend when Istanbul Basaksehir surprisingly lost 2-0 at home to strugglers Goztepe.

It leaves Gala five wins away from successfully defending their title and they should be approaching them full of confidence.

Gala won 5-2 at Yeni Malatyaspor on Thursday to seal their passage to the Turkish Cup final.

It was the fifth time in seven games that Fatih Terim's side have notched at least three goals and their free-scoring ways must be a concern for Konyaspor, who have gone ten games without a win.

Overall it has still been a decent campaign for Konyaspor, who narrowly avoided relegation in 2017-18.

But their season appears to be petering out and they have struggled against the top four teams, mustering just two points from a possible 18.

Only six of Galatasaray's 17 league wins this season have come on their travels but they have won on their last four league visits to Konya and are likely to triumph once again.
