Kirchhoff injury is a blow for Black Cats

If claiming just two points from their first seven Premier League matches was not enough of a problem, Sunderland have been hit by the news that midfielder Jan Kirchhoff could be out for eight weeks with a hamstring problem.

The 26-year-old German suffered the injury in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to West Brom and with on-loan Adnan Januzaj also sidelined, the Black Cats are 8-11 to be playing in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

Moyes has had a dismal start to life at the Stadium of Light since taking over from Sam Allardyce in the summer, and he is 4-1 second favourite with Hills to be the next top-flight boss to lose his job behind West Ham’s Slaven Bilic at 3-1.
