Kilmarnock are a solid bet to pile misery on St Mirren

Kilmarnock look solid favourites to maintain their excellent start to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership season by piling on the misery for St Mirren.

Stevie Clarke's side are going great guns and have sneaked up under the radar.

Three wins in a row, including one against Celtic, have pushed them up the table and they may even have improved since last season's excellent top-six finish.

Greg Stewart has looked an inspired signing and even more impressively Kris Boyd, last season's top scorer in Scotland, can't even get into the side.

Killie look a threat going forward too with veteran winger Chris Burke rolling back the years.

St Mirren hoped the appointment of Oran Kearney would help them stem the tide of a woeful campaign, but it may take some considerable time to sort out the mess he inherited from Alan Stubbs.

And Killie, who have sold their ticket allocation for Paisley, look a great bet.

Annan look the best bet of the William Hill Scottish Cup ties as they seek to progress at Highland League side Rothes.

The Galabankies have made a decent start in Ladbrokes League Two and striker Tony Wallace has netted in each of their last three games.

It's a long way to Moray and they won't have it easy at Mackessack Park, but Rothes are in the bottom half of the Highland League, although they have been deducted three points for fielding an ineligible player.

They aren't one of the top teams in that league who would fancy their chances against a league outfit and Annan should have too much for them.

The best chance of an upset could come in Coatbridge as Formartine travel south to face Ladbrokes League Two Albion.

Formartine, from the tiny Aberdeenshire village of Pitmedden, are a club who have not quite hit their stride in the Highland League this season and are capable of much better.

They claimed a creditable draw with Northern Irish side Coleraine in the Challenge Cup this season and knocked Forfar out of the Scottish Cup.

Rovers broke their long run without a win when they defeated Stirling Albion, but normal service was resumed in their last game when Annan beat them.

The sparse surroundings of Cliftonhill should pose no problems for Formartine, who appeal at a decent price.
