Home comforts can help Cadiz maintain promotion push

Third-placed Cadiz are holding out hope of pushing for automatic promotion from the Segunda Division and can strengthen their cause by beating fourth-placed Tenerife at Estadio Ramon de Carranza.

Cadiz have done their best work on home soil - collecting 31 points from a possible 45.

And they approach the Tenerife match full of confidence having won 2-1 at second-placed Girona last Sunday.

The win over Girona cut the gap to second to eight points, keeping alive Cadiz's chances of a top-two finish.

Tenerife are only four points further back but their thoughts will be more about preserving a place in the playoffs.

The Canary Islanders' progress has stalled due to three matches without a win, including last Sunday's disappointing 1-0 loss at home to mid-table Reus.

That was Tenerife's first home league defeat of the campaign but their away results have been more of a concern with only three road victories achieved all season.

Goalscoring has been a issue for Tenerife, who are averaging 1.13 goals per league game and their attack is understrength against Cadiz because forward Anthony Lozano on international duty with Honduras.

Cadiz carry the greater attacking threat thanks largely to Alfredo, their 15-goal top scorer.

Alfredo had gone through a lean spell at the start of the year, netting just two goals in his first ten appearances in 2017. However, the 26-year-old bagged the opening goal against Girona last week, setting Cadiz on their way to a significant victory, and he could make the difference once again.
