Goals look likely when Oviedo host Tenerife
Islanders have bags of firepower
La Liga Segunda Division
8pm Wednesday
Coach Juan Antonio Anquela is concerned about the workload facing his Oviedo side this week and that could work against them as they face Tenerife.
Just three days after a trip to Barcelona to take on Barca B and three days before a long trip south to Granada, Oviedo welcome the islanders to the Carlos Tartiere Stadium and it doesn’t look an easy assignment.
Oviedo have drawn their last two – against Zaragoza and Barcelona’s second team – and have lost only one of their last five. They could also welcome back two of their key men, defender Diego Johannesson and midfielder McDonald Mariga, both of whom have been out for six weeks.
So that’s encouraging and with Saul still looking a real threat on the left of Anquela’s front four, Oviedo are doing okay.
They have also beaten Tenerife to nil on the islanders’ two previous visits.
Tenerife have lost their last three away games – and failed to score in any of them – so don’t seem to travel that well.
They have bags of firepower – Serbian forward Filip Malbasic has bagged four in five since arriving from Vojvodina on transfer deadline day while Samuele Longo, Girona’s top scorer in their promotion-winning season, is in the goals once more.
Coach Jose Marti’s men have had an extra day to prepare for this tussle having beaten Gimnastic 2-0 on Saturday, 24 hours before Oviedo were in action in Barcelona.
These are two sides with goals in them so take both to find the net.
Recommendation
Both teams to score
