Goal droughts to continue for Universidad and Vasco

Copa Sudamericana qualification hangs in the balance for both

Copa Libertadores
1.30am Tuesday night

Universidad de Chile and Vasco da Gama have struggled for consistency in this year’s Copa Libertadores and backing a game short of goals looks a sensible option for Tuesday night's clash.

The hosts require victory, a Cruzeiro defeat and a 16-goal swing to qualify for the competition’s first knockout phase, so third spot and a place in the Copa Sudamericana is their realistic aim.

Vasco can also secure third position in Group E but only a victory gives them any hope.

It could be a cagey affair and with the outfits having scored just three goals between them in ten Copa Libertadores matches this season, a goalfest seems highly unlikely.

Universidad de Chile edged the reverse fixture against Vasco da Gama 1-0 on matchday one but they have since suffered a 7-0 annihilation by second-placed Cruzeiro so are far from convincing favourites.

They have not won by more than a single goal in any of their last 14 encounters in all competitions, while Vasco da Gama have drawn blanks in three of their last four cup games.

Recommendation
Under 2.5 goals
2pts 4-6 general
