Monaco were Champions League quarter-finalists two seasons ago but the Ligue 1 side face an uphill challenge to reach this year’s playoff round and must overcome a 2-1 first-leg defeat to Fenerbahce.

Since famously reaching the last eight at Arsenal’s expense in 2014-15, the Champions League qualifying draw has been unkind to Monaco.

They were beaten by Valencia last year, and a similar outcome beckons against Turkish opponents.
