Kick-off 7.30pm Tuesday

Alaves have happy memories of the Copa del Rey but a trip to Getafe in round four of this year’s competition looks like an unwelcome distraction.

Struggling in the league with eight losses in their opening nine games, Alaves only have eyes for Saturday’s Primera Liga showdown with high-flying Valencia.

It’s all a far cry from May when Alaves were looking forward to taking on Barcelona in the Copa final – a match they lost 3-1 – but lodged in the bottom three after a dismal start to the campaign, their priorities have changed.

And that gives Getafe arguably a better chance than the odds imply of seeing off the Basques at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

Deportivo’s problem is a lack of goals. Stoke loanee Bojan has yet to hit the target for a team who have scored only three goals in their nine outings. They have failed to notch in seven of those matches.

Getafe have lost three of their four home matches this term, but that statistic is a little deceptive. Those three losses were against Sevilla, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and all were by just the odd goal.

Excellent in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Levante, Jose Bordelas’s men are in decent form.

This doesn’t look like a tie which is going to produce many goals. Of these sides’ combined 18 league matches, only one has produced four goals or more, with Deportivo’s matches averaging 1.9 goals per game.
