Premier Sports, 5pm Monday

The first round of the Belgian championship playoffs started over the weekend and leaders Club Brugge host Genk looking to extend their advantage at the top.

Brugge were the class act in the regular season, finishing 12 points clear of the pack, but that lead has been halved in the convoluted playoff system which is designed to create an exciting finale.

Genk should not be written off after losing just one of their last eight league games and they were particularly strong away from home to the better clubs in Belgium's top flight.

The visitors drew away to Brugge, Charleroi and Gent as well as beating Anderlecht on their travels. They also overcame the leaders 2-0 at home so are worthy of respect receiving a one-goal start on the Asian handicap.

Brugge have kept only one clean sheet in their last ten home games and if they concede again it will be difficult for them to secure a wide-margin victory.

Recommendation
Genk +1 on Asian handicap
