The first of the weekend's two Manchester-Merseyside Premier League clashes went the way of Manchester City, who are 1-3 to retain their title after beating Everton 3-1 on Saturday.

A brace from Gabriel Jesus, followed by Raheem Sterling's ninth league goal of the campaign, sent City back to the top of the table, at least until Liverpool face Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds are 11-4 to win the Premier League and Tottenham are priced up as the best of the rest at 40-1 after their 1-0 victory over Burnley.

Spurs had been no bigger than 1-5 to defeat the struggling Clarets but their backers had to wait until added time for Christian Eriksen's winner.

Mauricio Pochettino's men are 1-3 to finish in the top four with London rivals Chelsea (4-11) and Arsenal (evens) next in the betting. Manchester United are 15-2 to turn around their disappointing season and finish in the top four.

Newcastle continued their fine run of form with a 1-0 victory at relegation rivals Huddersfield and Crystal Palace claimed a valuable win by the same scoreline against Leicester.

Watford, 3-2 winners over Cardiff, and Wolves, who beat Bournemouth 2-0, obliged as home favourites in the 3pm kick-offs and West Ham won 2-0 at bottom club Fulham.

There were only three away wins in the 30 3pm kick-offs in the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two with Championship title contenders Leeds one of the few successful visiting teams, winning 1-0 at Bolton.

League One highflyers Luton won 2-1 at Coventry to reduce the gap to leaders Portsmouth, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Barnsley.

There are 13-8 joint-favourites to win League Two after Lincoln returned to the top of the table with a 3-1 home win over Morecambe. The Imps' title rivals MK Dons had their game at Newport postponed while Forest Green's clash with Mansfield was abandoned at half-time due to a waterlogged pitch.
