Match preview

The Sky Bet Championship season resumes with a key fixture at the top of the table as Fulham and Brentford bid to keep the pressure on top two Leeds and West Brom.

Fulham are six points off the automatic-promotion places while Brentford are ten points back but both were in decent form before the season was suspended in March.

Scott Parker's Cottagers had suffered just one defeat in 11 games, although that reverse was a spectacular 3-0 home loss to bottom club Barnsley, who also won August's reverse fixture at Oakwell.

Fulham's defence, missing Terence Kongolo and Alfie Mawson for this fixture, has hampered their push for a top-two finish and Brentford have the quality to make them pay.

Fulham drew 3-3 at relegation-threatened Luton on Boxing Day, lost 2-1 at home to Reading on New Year's Day, and conceded twice in a home win over struggling Huddersfield in February.

They lost 1-0 at Brentford before Christmas with Bryan Mbuemo scoring the only goal of the game.

Mbuemo is part of a potent frontline alongside Ollie Watkins and the highly-rated Said Benrahma, and they have helped the Bees score three or more goals in 13 of their 37 league matches.

Brentford walloped Luton 7-0 at the end of November and thumped Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 in their most recent outing. Their away trips in 2020 have included a 4-0 win at Bristol City and a 5-1 triumph at Hull so the odds about them scoring at least twice at Craven Cottage look tempting.

Key stat

Brentford have scored 20 goals in their last eight Sky Bet Championship games.
