Scottish football preview

Hibs have turned their season around and can get the better of Kilmarnock at Easter Road.

The Leith club sacked the hapless Paul Heckingbottom - a decision that seemed to take them forever - and it has paid immediate dividends with three wins.

Two of those have come under the stewardship of Jack Ross. The ex-Sunderland boss had a terrible time in Wearside, but he knows what he's doing in Scotland as any St Mirren fan can tell you.

It was in Paisley that Ross led his new side to another success in midweek and the telling aspect was that although they were pegged back for long periods, they defended well and looked sharp on the counter-attack.

Former Forest Green striker Christian Doidge has been transformed by the decision to play him up front with Flo Kamberi rather than on his own and he's bagged five goals in his last three games, having previously gone 15 league games without scoring.

Killie walloped Hearts last week for their first win in four games, but they don't travel well and they have lost their last two away games at Motherwell and Aberdeen.

Dundee stuttered again in their stop-start season at Inverness last week, but they should be too strong at home to Queen of the South.

James McPake's side cannot seem to find any consistency despite having a squad that should be equal with anything in the Ladbrokes Championship.

They are beginning to get to the desperate stage in trying to keep tabs with Dundee United and this is a must-win against the side from Dumfries.

The Doonhamers crashed to a woeful William Hill Scottish Cup defeat last week at home to Queen's Park and they have won once in seven away games, netting just three goals, so this long away trip could fill them with dread.

Edinburgh City have won eight and drawn once in their last ten games and there are signs that prolific striker Blair Henderson is back to his best after a sluggish start to the season, so back them to win at Queen's Park.

There are usually goals at both ends when the capital side play, but they tend to outscore teams. And they can win against a Spiders team who have won only once at Hampden in six league games this season.
