You have to go back to 1958 for the last time France beat Germany in a major finals but tonight comes our chance to set the record straight.

Incredibly, these two great football nations have never met in a European Championship finals so a little bit of history is being made in Marseille.

Two years ago, at the World Cup in Brazil, France had what everyone thought was a golden opportunity to finally beat Germany at a major tournament but they blew it. They didn’t play well when they needed to and Germany pinched a 1-0 win.
