Morocco v Croatia

There have been a few nervy games already at this year's World Cup and Morocco's meeting with Croatia could be another contest short on goals. Morocco have kept clean sheets in their last four internationals while under 2.5 goals has copped in four of Croatia's last six outings.

Germany v Japan

Germany's attacking strength was clear to see when they wrapped up their Nations League campaign with a 3-3 draw with England at Wembley and they should have too much firepower for a defensively suspect Japan. That said, both teams have scored in six of Germany's last seven competitive games.

Spain v Costa Rica

Spain impressed with their run to the semi-finals at Euro 2020 and they can kick-off their World Cup challenge with a comfortable victory over Costa Rica. The Iberians conceded just five goals in qualifying and they should shut out Costa Rica, which means they ought to also cover a one-goal handicap by winning by two or more.

Belgium v Canada

Belgium are among the top ten contenders in Qatar and they can make a strong start by defeating Canada in Al Rayyan. A Belgian team featuring several veterans could struggle against the very best teams but they should be much too strong for Canada, who are facing a massive step up in class.
