Toulouse gave their survival hopes a much-needed lift with victory over Angers on Saturday and can round off a perfect week in style by beating goal-shy Caen.

The visitors are only four points above safety but should be full of confidence after snapping an eight-game winless sequence and victory in this game in hand would put them in a commanding position to maintain their top-flight status.

Mickael Debeve’s men face tough trips to Rennes and Bordeaux in the coming weeks so must avoid a slip-up at out-of-sorts Caen, who are without a win in five league outings and find themselves looking anxiously behind them.

The hosts have amassed 36 points, a healthy total at this stage of the season, but may need one more victory to guarantee their survival.

However, Caen have the league’s bluntest attack, having notched just 24 times this term, and may lack the tools to trouble a tricky Toulouse.

Caen have built this term’s success around a solid defensive structure but even that has deserted them in recent weeks.

The Normandy outfit have conceded three times in four of their last five fixtures and required a late goal from midfielder Jessy Deminguet to rescue a point at basement boys Metz on Saturday.

Toulouse have lost only one of their last four road games, highlighted by a 1-0 success at the ultra-reliable Nice, and can complete a league double over the fragile hosts following a 2-0 home triumph in December.
