European U21 Championship Group B guide: lack of a goalscorer could hurt holders

Germany

The holders bring a strong defence with excellent goalkeeper and a talented enough midfield despite the absence of potentially world-class operator Kai Havertz. A lack of a genuine goalscorer could be a problem for Germany.

Manager: Stefan Kuntz
Key player: Jonathan Tah

Denmark

Only two players - Robert Skov and Dortmund's Jacob Bruun Larsen - have played for the senior side - and the depth of their talent could be an issue. Sampdoria's centre-back Joachim Andersen is rated highly but will need to be in this company.

Key player: Jacob Bruun Larsen

Serbia

Real Madrid's new striker Luka Jovic has dropped down from the senior side and forms part of a strong spine including Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic, Benfica's Andrija Zivkovic and Sasa Lukic of Torino. Serbia look like the pick of the outsiders.

Manager: Goran Dorovic
Key player: Luka Jovic

Austria

They took one point off Serbia in qualifying, losing 3-1 at home, and that highlights the task facing Austria. Sixteen of their squad are based domestically and only two of those played for champions Red Bull Salzburg this season.

Manager: Werner Gregoritsch
Key player: Hannes Wolf
