The standings in the Arnold Clark Cup have a symmetrical feel after one game with both fixtures finishing 1-1.

England dominated for much of their game against Canada on Thursday but were pegged back in the second half after taking the lead through Millie Bright.

Germany, ranked number three in the world, needed a late equaliser to secure a stalemate against an impressive Spanish squad, who won all 12 of their games in the calendar year of 2021 to nil.

Many of the Spaniards play their club football for the dominant Barcelona team who won the Champions League last year and breezed through their group with Arsenal this year, winning all six games with an aggregate score of 24-1.

Despite their improvement under new boss Sarina Wiegman, England have still lost two of their previous three against teams ranked in the top ten in the world and could suffer a similar fate here.

Spain came out 1-0 winners the last time these two sides met and a similar result may well be likely.
