From 7pm Tuesday

Manchester United enter the EFL Trophy fray for the first time on Tuesday as their youngsters tackle Rotherham, but bookmakers don't think they'll win anything with kids.

The Red Devils are set to play a mostly Under-21 team in the competition under manager Neil Wood, and have been installed as 33-1 shots to lift the trophy, along with Chelsea, who start off at Swindon on Tuesday.

Of the 16 academy sides in the competition last season, only seven qualified from the group stage, and four of those went out in round two. Three progressed to the last 16, with only Manchester City making the quarter-finals.

Rotherham, who won their Sky Bet League One opener at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, are favourites to overcome the United youngsters, who are 19-10 to win their first group game.

Chelsea won their group and reached the last 16 last year and they are favourites to win at League Two Swindon, whose manager Richie Wellens is set to rotate his squad heavily as they play the second of their eight August fixtures.

Most teams play their opening EFL Trophy fixtures in the last week of August. Last season's finalists Sunderland (10-1) and Portsmouth (12-1) head the outright betting.
